Itinerary

Day 1

.../Lima

Upon arrival in Lima, there is a reception and transfer to the selected hotel and overnight.
Day 2

Lima/Iquitos - Amazon Lodge

After breakfast, there is a scheduled transfer to the airport to take your flight to Iquitos. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the lodge from Bellavista port on the Nanay river. The speed boat travels through the Amazon river to the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge. The lodge is located in the Yanamono jungle with more than 300 species of trees. During the ride, the convergence of the brown turbid Amazon river with the dark waters of the Nanay river can be seen. It is also impressive to see the jungle landscape as well as the rustic small houses of the riverside villages. After arriving at the lodge and enjoying of a natural fruit refreshment, there is time to rest in the assigned room. Lunch is provided. In the afternoon, there is a jungle hike into the Yanamono Reserve near the lodge for approximately two hours. The specialists identifies various botanical species such as the Heliconia plant, the medicinal plants and the giant trees such as the White Silk Cotton tree (ceiba pentandra), whose dimensions are so large that 25 people can circle the giant tree. During this time, it is possible to see various birds such as the turkey vulture (cathartes aura) and the black-fronted nunbird (monasa nigrifrons), as well as small monkeys such as the saddle-backed tamarin (saguinus fusicollis), the red-bellied titi monkey (callicebus moloch) and the squirrel monkey(saimiri boliviense). Upon returning to the lodge, there is free time to relax. After observing the Amazonian sunset, there is a night boat ride to the Manco Gorge (if the water level is high enough) or along the Amazon river to enjoy the magical sounds of the jungle and the light of the moon. If it´s a clear night, the constellations can be seen. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3

Amazon Lodge

The day starts with an early wake-up for birdwatching by boat. If the water level is high enough, the boat will go to the Cáceres Gorge or another nearby gorge. From there, some species of birds can be observed; such as the wattled jacana (jacana jacana), ringed kingfisher (ceryle torquata), black-collared hawk (Busarellus nigricollis), etc. It is also possible to see the very impressive giant water lily or victoria amazonica. They are located inside the lagoons of the Yanamono Island (if the water level permits it). Upon returning to the lodge, a delicious breakfast is waiting. In the afternoon, there is a small fishing trip into small tributaries of the Amazon river. The more experienced visitors can try fishing for piranhas and other varieties of fish. During this trip it is possible to see the Amazon river dolphin (inia geoffrensis). They are known as the "pink dolphins". Return to the lodge for lunch. At night, those who are more adventurous can take a hike around the perimeter of the lodge to look for tarantulas, fire flies, bats and other nocturnal jungle creatures. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4

Iquitos/Lima

After breakfast, a final tour to visit an artesian sugar cane mill to taste the different regional beverages made out of this produce, return to the lodge and lunch. At a scheduled time, transfer from the lodge to the airport to take a flight to Lima. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel.
Day 5

Lima/Arequipa

After breakfast, there is a scheduled transfer to the airport to take your flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the selected hotel. In the afternoon, there is a guided tour of the most visited places in Arequipa: Carmen Alto Lookout, with a wonderful view point of the Chilina Valley; Yanahuara Lookout, composed of a series of sillar stone arches with a view of Arequipa City and Misti volcano; Saint Lazarus neighborhood; Santa Catalina Monastery; Plaza de Armas or “Arequipa's Main Square”; the Cathedral and the Jesuit Church of La Compañía. After tour ends, return to the hotel.
Day 6

Arequipa/Cusco

After an early breakfast, there is a scheduled transfer from the hotel to the airport to take the flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the selected hotel. In the afternoon, there is a guided city tour to visit: the Cathedral, very important for its architecture and collection of canvases from the “Escuela Cusqueña” (Academy of Cusco); the Temple of the Sun or “Koricancha”, used as a founfation of Santo Domingo Monastery and classic example of the fusion of Inca and Western cultures and the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Return to the hotel.
Day 7

Cusco /Machu Picchu/Cusco

After an early breakfast, starts a full day excursion to visit Machu Picchu the most important archaeological site in Peru. The citadel is located 113 Km ( 70 miles) northwest of Cusco. The tour starts with an early transfer to the railway station for the morning train ride to Aguas Calientes for about three-and-a-half hours. Then, continues with a 20 minute bus ride up to the archaeological site for a guided tour. Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, Machu Picchu is considered an absolute masterpiece of architecture and a unique testimony of the Inca civilization. At the scheduled time, return to Cusco and transfer to the hotel. Lunch is included.
Day 8

Cusco/Puno

At the scheduled time, it starts the trip to Puno by regular bus. On the way, there are several stops to visit the Andahuaylillas' Chapel and different archaeological sites like: the Racchi's temple, La Raya and Pukara. A buffet lunch is provided in the village of Sicuani. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the selected hotel for overnight.
Day 9

Puno

After breakfast, there is a tour of the National Reserve of Titicaca for a visit to the Uros “floating islands”. These are a group of more than 40 islands made of piles of “Totora” reeds. Although the Uros people on the island have intermarried with the Aymara and no pure Uros exists, they continue living as their ancestors practising some of the Uro traditions. The islanders fish, hunt birds and graze cattle on the islets. Return to the hotel. By the afternoon, there is a tour of the archaeological site of Sillustani. The site is located 34 Km ( 21 miles) northwest of Puno on the shore of Umayo Lagoon 4,000 m.s.l. ( 12,800 ft). The Chullpas are precolumbian funeral towers, the largest in the Americas and one of the most impressive of the world. They were built by the Aymara-speaking Colla tribe. Return to the hotel.
Day 10

Puno(Juliaca)/ Lima

After breakfast a scheduled transfer from the hotel to the airport in Juliaca to take a flight to Lima. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel. At the scheduled time a tour to the city of Lima, capital of Peru. It begins with the historic downtown, to visit important buildings like the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop's Palace and the Municipal Palace. It also includes a visit to the Church of San Francisco and Monastery, the largest monumental complex of Colonial Art in the Americas. You will also see the stone facades and wooden balconies of the Colonial houses. Passing by Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca building, which was most likely used as an important ceremonial and administrative center belonging to the Lima Culture. The tour ends with a visit to the modern suburbs of San Isidro, and Miraflores. San Isidro has modern apartment buildings and beautiful parks such as "El Olivar" with olives's trees brought from Spain in the 15th Century. Miraflores with its Central Park and Larcomar Shopping Center that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Return to the hotel.
Day 11

Lima/...

After breakfast, a scheduled transfer from the hotel to the airport for the return flight to... END OF OUR SERVICES
