Quito

Arrival - transfer to the hotel.
Day 2

Quito

Colonial City Tour, bustling streets and squares in one of the largest historical old town of the Americas. (B)
Day 3

Quito - Peguche - Cotacachi - Magdalena - Karanki Community

Visit the traditional looms and Andean handcrafted instruments of Peguche. Then visit Magdalena, once home to Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor and meet the Karanki community in a paradise lost in time amongst llamas and condors, peaceful lagoons and the patchwork slopes of Imbabura Volcano. Admire the beauty of their embroidery, share their everyday shepherding and harvesting activities and stand face-toface with a people untouched by the urgencies of modern life.
Overnight in a comfortable room with private facilities and hot water, taste a homemade Andean meal and discover this natural mountain realm with optional activities like horseback riding, mountain biking, or hiking the nearby hills. (B,D)
Day 4

Ibarra - Chaski - Antawa Train - Salinas - Otavalo Market - Quito

Visit the famous Otavalo craft fair; drive to Ibarra and catch the Chaski Antawa train. The landscapes provide a magical setting, pass through mysterious tunnels, cross high-rising bridges and admire a unique biodiversity. Arrive in Salinas, an Afro-Ecuadorian community that is well known for its agricultural activities. (B,L)
Day 5

Quito - Baños - Riobamba

Drive south of Quito into the Avenue of the Volcanoes. Admire Cotopaxi up close. Visit Baños, Gateway to the Amazon, travel to Riobamba; panoramic city tour. (B)
Day 6

Riobamba - Alausí - Ingapirca - Cuenca

Start your day with a drive through some of the most picturesque indigenous areas of the country. Take the Devil’s Nose train ride and continue your way south to the Ingapirca Ruins, then arrive in Cuenca. (B,BL)
Day 7

Cuenca

City TourLet its cobblestone streets, graceful wrought-iron balconies, and flowerfilled plazas captivate you. A visit to a straw-hat export company is scheduled for the afternoon.
Day 8

Cuenca - El Cajas - Guayaquil

Visit the awe-inspiring El Cajas National Park, known for its beautiful landscapes and at least 200 lagoons, including La Toreadora Lake. Arrive in Guayaquil. (B)
Day 9

Guayaquil

Transfer out. End of services. (B)
