 DAY 1    San Jose

 DAY 2    San Jose - Osa Peninsula  

Osa Peninsula, the last remaining virgin rain forest in Central America. Nearly 300 species of birds, 139 species of mammals and 116 species of amphibians and reptiles roam about undisturbed. More than one hundred species of trees can be found in an acre of parkland. Hiking, horseback riding, and trekking are popular ways of discovering this Garden of Eden. Jungle lodges located along the banks of the Sierpe River blend in harmony with the environment. And offshore, Cano Island, once worshiped by old indigenous cultures, awaits with its underwater paradise and archaeological treasures.  DAY 4    Osa Peninsula - Quepos  

Quepos, originally a sleepy fishing village, is nowadays one of the best known vacation spots in the Americas. This charming area is full of surprises: Quaint hotels perched over hills offering exceptional sunset views, excellent sportfishing in its blue waters, Manuel Antonio National Park, which ranks as one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful parks with its display of white sand beaches, evergreen forest, and magnificent lookouts over the ocean, and Jardin Gaia, the first official Wildlife Rescue Center. There is also whitewater rafting, sunset cruises, kayaking, hiking, snorkeling...  DAY 5/6    Quepos  

Days at leisure. Suggested activities: Relaxing at the beach; surfing; sea kayaking; hiking in Manuel Antonio National Park; rafting the Naranjo River (Dry season only); sport fishing; horseback riding; sunset cruise.  DAY 7    Quepos - San Jose - Arenal  

Arenal Volcano towers over lush green pastures and plantations of yucca, papaya, and cassava. Rushing waters heated by the volcano are channeled into pools at Tabacon Hot Springs, offering a relaxing experience after a day of horseback riding or hiking. Lake Arenal remains the best spot in Costa Rica for windsurfing. You may hike at the foot of the volcano, visit La Fortuna waterfall on horseback, or take a full day excursion to the Venado caves or to Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve. And, at night, the most active of all Costa Rica's volcanoes displays a true show of fiery explosions, which will give you a hint of how the earth must have looked in its tumultuous beginnings.
