DAY 3 |

Santiago - Puerto Montt |
|

Transfer to the airport in time for your connecting flight to Puerto Montt. Arrival in Puerto Montt Airport. Reception and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will take a city tour of Puerto Montt, starting with a visit to the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Then we go to the top of one of the city's hills, from where we will appreciate a panoramic view of Puerto Montt, its port, Tenglo Island, the small bay of Reloncaví and the beginning of the Andes Mountains Patagonian stretch. Then we will visit the beach-resorts of Pelluco and Chinquihue, and on the way we will see the fish factories, Naval and Marine shipyards followed by the handicraft market of Angelmó. Later, we will continue our journey to Puerto Varas, a charming city located on the edge of Lake Llanquihue, and known as the City of Roses because of its beautiful gardens. Puerto Montt - Punta Arenas |

Breakfast at the hotel. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport for the departure flight Arrival at Punta Arenas Airport. Transfer by private car to Punta Arenas. In the city we will go up to the Cerro de la Cruz vantage-point, where we will have a panoramic view of the city and the Magellan Straits. We will then visit the Salesiano Mayorino Borgatello Museum, where we will find ethnological and natural history samples, which tell us about the flora and fauna of this region as well as handicrafts of the Yaganes, Onas, and Alacalufes Indians and of the first colonists. Afterwards, we will visit the Museum of the Pioneers and the Library, where we can see an interesting open-air exhibition of machinery and houses of the colonial period. DAY 7 |

Punta Arenas - Torres del Paine |

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the Torres de Paine National Park by scheduled service departing at 08.30 am. On route we will appreciate the typical steppes of Magellan where we shall see animals such as sheep, ostriches and different kinds of birds. We will also visit the Milodón Cave, where we will see the remains of a herbivore animal, which lived there around 12,000 years ago. In the park we will see Lake Sarmiento, Lake Nordenskjold, Amarga Lagoon and Lake Pehoé. We will be able to appreciate spectacular views of the Paine Massif, Almirante Nieto and the Torres del Paine granite towers as well as the local fauna which includes guanacos, ostriches, foxes, chingues, caiquenes, black-necked swans, flamingos and condors. Arrival at approximately 6.00 pm. Overnight at Hosteria Pehoe. (B)

Calama - San Pedro de Atacama |

Arrival in Calama. Reception at the airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. On route we will see the Cordillera de la Sal (Salt mountain range) and the only view of the massive salt flat with the Licancabur Volcano in the background. Arrival in San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight. |

DAY 2 |

San Pedro - Quitor - Valley Of The Moon - San Pedro |

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we will visit the Archaeological Museum Padre Le Paige where we will witness an exhibition showing the evolution of Atacamanian life over the last 11,000 years. We will then visit the town church, the Main Square, and the house of Pedro de Valdivia (a conquistador and the founder of Santiago). We will then visit the Pukará de Quitor. In the afternoon we will take an excursion to the Valley of the Moon, famous worldwide for its lunar appearance, the salt caverns, the Three Marys rock formations and the great dune from where we will witness a spectacular sunset. Return to the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight. (B) |

San Pedro - Toconao - Miscante Lakes - San Pedro |

Breakfast at the hotel. Full day excursion (with box lunch included) visiting the village of Toconao with its interesting liparite stone buildings, and then on to the Atacama salt flat where we will visit the Flamingo National Reservation, a habitat of three of the most beautiful species of flamingo. We will then head for the altiplanic lakes of Miscante and Miñique at over 13,000 feet above sea level. Finally we will head for the Aguas Calientes Salt Flat and the impressive Tuyajto Lagoon. Return to San Pedro de Atacama. Overnight.(B, L) |

San Pedro - Tatio Geysers - Calama |

Early morning departure for the Tatio Geysers to experience this spectacular demonstration of volcanic activity. We will also visit the village of Caspana with its fertile terraces, architecture in Liparita stone and characteristic mud-roofs. We will continue with visits to the villages of Toconce and Vegas de Turi on an awe inspiring route which takes us through Chiu-Chiu and Lasana, with their important cultural and historical legacies including one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Chile. Box lunch on route. We will arrive to Calama in the afternoon. Transfer to the airport for the departure flight. (B, L) |

DAY 2 |

Hanga Roa - Ana Kena - Hanga Roa |

Breakfast at the hotel. A full day tour, along the Moai route, visiting: Vaihu, a place which is surrounded by enormous statues which have fallen face down; the ruins of Akahanga, which are in their natural condition and where the first king of the island was buried. Further along, we will see the Rano Raraku volcano, situated close to the southern shore of the island, and at the base of Poike, which is the most spectacular crater in the zone and where the former island-people carved the giant statues from the volcano's quarry. Here we can see the different stages in the construction of the Moais, the biggest of which still remains at the base of the quarry and which is more than 20m long and weighs just under 200 tons. We carry on towards the beautiful beach of Anakena, where we will see Ahu Tongariki, the biggest of the 15 Moais on the island. They weighed an average of 50 tons and were destroyed by a tidal wave in 1960. Lunch box and free time to enjoy the warm sea waters which surround the island. In the afternoon, return to the hotel. DAY 3 |

Hanga Roa - Orongo - Ahu Ahkivi - Hanga Roa |

Breakfast at the hotel. A half-day tour to the Rano Kao volcano, whose deep crater of lush vegetation contains a large fresh water lake covered with totora. From there, we will continue onto the Cultural Centre of Orongo, situated at the top of the crater at over 300m above sea level and where year after year the Bird Man or Tangata Manu ceremony takes place. We can see more than 100 petroglyphs, which represent the Make-Make God and the Manutara seabird amongst others. Next, we will proceed to Ana Kai Tangata, a cavern where the island people took refuge during times of war and where you can see many pre-historic paintings. Then we will visit Ahu Vinapu, where the interesting architectural style reminds you of the Inca's handiwork. This is due to the perfection of the cuts and location of the stones. In the afternoon we will make another excursion visiting Ahu Akivi, the popular platform composed of 7 Moais, all of them facing the sea; the Ana Tepahu caverns, the quarry of Puna Pau, where the top part of the Moais were sculpted, and Ahu Tahai. Return to the hotel. Overnight. (B) |
