Included are Lima's most imposing colonial churches and mansions such as the Government Palace, the Plaza Mayor, the City Hall and the Cathedral, including 17th century San Francisco Monastery. The tour ends with a visit to the modern suburbs of San Isidro, where a visit to the pre-Inca pyramid of Huaca Huallamarca (closed Mondays) and on-site museum is included before continuing to Miraflores, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Overnight.  Day 3    Lima - Cuzco   At fixed time, you will be transferred to the airport to take your fight to Cuzco. Upon arrival reception, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Visitors should take a short rest in order to adjust to altitude. Afternoon tour of the city visiting the Koricancha Temple and the Cathedral. Continue to the surrounding ruins: the fortress Sacsayhuaman overlooking the city, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay ruins. Overnight.  Day 4    Sacred Valley   Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The tour begins in Pisac where people from surrounding communities converge on the tiny central plaza to buy and sell produce and supplies. In the tourist section of the market, the artisans sell a wide variety of handicrafts. On Sundays a Quechua Mass is attended by the Varayoc or Indian Leaders. After lunch, the tour continues to the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, where the locals maintain the original construction of the Inca citadel. Return to Cuzco. Overnight.  Day 5    Machu Picchu   Catch the morning train (Backpaker) for a full day tour of Machu Picchu, the `Lost City of the Incas` one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, the citadel perches on a mist-shrouded mountain top.
